OFFERS MOBILE TEXT MESSAGE FORECASTS
FOR RELIEF WORKERS
ATLANTA, September 9, 2005 – To assist in planning relief efforts,
The
Weather Channel Interactive has made mobile text message weather
forecasts
available at no charge for relief workers in the Gulf Coast region.
Those
needing a forecast can simply text the city name or zip code to
STORM
(78676) for a 36-hour forecast or add NOW and a space before the
city
name
or zip code to receive a text message with current conditions.
The Weather Channel and its partner Mobile Media have made the service
available due to text messaging service being more available than
voice
in
some areas impacted by Hurricane Katrina. The service is available
